About Eydie

My children absolutely love spending time with me. 

As a kid I day dreamed about the perfect life I would have.  A handsome, devoted husband who enjoyed show tunes.  Drapes to pull across the picture window at twilight.  Two docile children who would play with cornhusk dolls while I read them books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  A well trained cocker spaniel with silky ears.  We would live in a Victorian house with original light fixtures and gleaming wooden floors.

Fast forward 40 years.  I am a single mother of 3.  My ex-husband roared off on a motorcycle and I moved into a mid-century ranch with dilapidated blinds.  My children have no interest in Laura Ingalls and prefer the prolific James Patterson.  Miss Kitty, the family pet, enjoys cuddling with the heat registers more than the family.  I work full time as a reading specialist with students who claim to hate reading.

Erma Bombeck once said, "There is a thin line that separates laughter & pain, comedy & tragedy, humor and hurt."  Erma and I agree on this.  Instead of becoming the bitter divorcee everyone avoids at parties, I have decided to keep moving forward.  Learning to be a better mom, teacher, and person through creativity, laughter, and grit.

On the blog, I will share my journey with you.  Not all of it will be pretty, (and people still may avoid me at parties) but it will be honest and fun.  Join Me!
